Meet your guide, a history teacher, and set off on a walking tour of Ermoupolis. Stroll through the neoclassical part of the city and visit some of the most important monuments of Greek modern history.
Begin at the Ermoupolis Town Hall, the largest in Greece, designed by Ernestos Ziller and built between 1875 and 1891. Next, visit the Apollo Theater, the first theater in Greece, built in 1862 to 1864 according to the plans of the famous Italian architect Pietro Sambo.
Continue to the Church of Saint Nicholas, the 5th largest church in Greece, and the patron saint of the capital Hermoupoli. It is located in the Vaporia district, close to Miaouli Square.
Walk through the famous part of the city called 'Vaporia' with its neoclassical buildings. Finally, visit the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Holy Orthodox Church to see the unique icon of Jesus by the famous painter El Greco.
