Once the seat of a mighty Bronze Age king, Knossos was a vast complex of more than 1,500 interlocking rooms: from the throne of “Minos” and sacred sanctuaries to luxurious royal apartments, treasure-filled storerooms, and remarkably advanced water systems.
Discover how the first palace rose soon after 2000 BC, only to be destroyed by an earthquake around 1700 BC and rebuilt into an even more magnificent four-storey complex adorned with vibrant frescoes, monumental courts, elegant staircases, and specialized workshops. For more than three centuries, it stood as the political and ceremonial heart of Minoan Crete until a series of earthquakes in the 14th century BC led to its final decline.

Important Information
- Begin your visit at the entrance of the Palace of Knossos, where you meet your licensed guide. Explore royal chambers and ancient corridors as mythology and history come to life.
Optional Upgrade: Enhance your visit with a 90-minute guided tour at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum (13:30). See original frescoes, symbolic artifacts, and treasures that once adorned the palace. Transport not included (15–20 min drive). Private transfer available.
Meeting Point: By the ticket booth, look for our “Meeting Point” sign.
Check-In: Opens 20 minutes before start time. Strict timed entry.
Important: Late arrivals cannot be admitted. Tickets expire after your time slot and the booking is considered a no-show. Subject to availability, we may assist with new tickets (€20/adult), but joining the tour is not guaranteed.
