They produce some of the finest wine labels in Greece
Gaia Wines is a rather recently founded business (in 1994) who own 2 modern wineries in the best and promising P.D.O. areas of Greece, Nemea in Peloponnese and Santorini.
Their aim is to present the famous Greek grape varieties in the wine enthusiasts around the world.
Their production started back in 1994 with the introduction of 'Thalassitis', a variety of a dry white wine from Santorini that quickly became one of the finest choices in Greece. Since then, the company has celebrated numerous new labels, like the 'Notios White' - a happy marriage between Moschofilero and Roditis, a year later the 'Notios Red', 'Agiorgitiko' rosé and the 'Ritinitis Nobilis', a local retsina which was produced for the first time.
'Thalassitis Oak Fermented', 'Agiorgitiko by GAIA', 'Anatolikos' and 'Asyrtiko by GAIA Wild Ferment' are some of the popular and recognized labels in Greece and abroad. Today, the 9,800 bottle production figure of 1994 is quite significantly surpassed by some 350,000 bottles, which they produce with the highest degree of quality in mind.
Assyrtiko is the noblest white grape variety of Greece producing dry white Santorini P.D.O. wines with unique personality and powerful character due to the volcanic, porous soil, the long hours of sunshine, the lack of rainfalls throughout the year, the sea mist and the strong winds during summer.
